Brave Question

Bill Powers

Hi All,

I decided to download and install Brave for my Dell AIO Win 10 box. It will take a bit of getting used to. the one thing that miffs me right now is that when I close Brave after searching for something on the web, then reopen the browser, there’s the same page I had when I closed it before. I’m just trying to get a handle on the browser and wonder if there is a way I can make it open up to a simple thing like an empty StartPage when it comes back up? I don’t like having to go up to the top and find the tab for that open page and close it.

Thanks,

BP

There should be a setting for this , just like on other browsers.

Alan is correct. Press alt-F for the Brave menu, then S for Settings. You'll find startup options on that screen.

Hi Bill,

After you open settings with, Alt + F, then pressing, S, navigate to Appearance and press enter.

Now up arrow to some radio buttons and you want the radio button, Open a specific page or set of pages, selected.  Your setting is probably, Continue where you left off.

Check out the other settings in this area to see what else is there.  You will probably need to add a webpage, but I don't recall how I got all this set-up to give you better steps.

Geno, Using Windows Ten Latest up-dates and Jaws latest up-date 2020..

After you have it set up the way you want. You start tagging as in the other Browsers.. You will have a list.. in any of them you go or even for a web-search if you use: “Control and W” it will go out of what you are in and if you keep on using till you are all the way out of Brave.. That is what works for me..

Others have described how to set your start page, but just so you know, you don't have to go to the top to close a tab. You can just press control-w to close tabs. This actually works in most browsers.

It's actually the "On Startup" pane as the last step.

Yes, that's why I suggested to up arrow to get to it quicker.  Bill has low vision and I wasn't quite sure how to explain it to him not knowing how he navigates.

Mike B,

Thanks for your directions. I found the steps to set Brave to open to a simple Startpage.com home page. I just like a simple, no frills page to open rather than a bunch of clutter.
