When:
Tuesday, 10 November 2020
10:00am to 10:00am
(UTC-08:00) America/Los Angeles

Where:
Worldwide

Description:

Wide support for Windows 10 Version 1809 (October 2018 Update/build 17763) will end today. Here, wide support refers to new updates for consumers on semi-annual channel (SAC), with business support ending six months later. Please update to Windows 10 Version 2004 or later. Note that even though support for this version ends, discussion surrounding this version will continue in the Win10 forum and its subgroups. Note: Windows 10 Version 1809 is a long-term servicing release for mission-critical devices. Complete support for this release will end in January 2029.

Hi all,

Just like we did in the past, a few weeks prior to end of support for a Windows 10 feature update, a calendar notice like the one below will be sent to everyone. Starting with Version 1809 notice, calendar notices will be sent early:

  • About three months prior to end of support (12 weeks to be exact): a normal calendar reminder will be sent. This is a signal for you to start letting go of the mentioned feature update.
  • Three special notices: a special reminder will be sent to everyone as end of support for the mentioned feature update approaches. These will be sent four weeks, two weeks, and one week prior to end of support date. These should serve as a signal for you to upgrade to latest feature update offered to you.
  • Although the calendar invite will say discussion of mentioned feature update will continue on this forum cluster past the end of support date, the leadership team kindly requests that you do minimize discussion of unsupported Windows 10 releases except for cases where you need to use a device running the said release or for upgrade discussion.
  • Fall releases such as Version 1809 will receive business support for a few months after consumer support ends, and in case of long-term support versions such as 1809, up to ten years after it is released. However, for ease of record keeping and to reduce confusion, Win10 Forum for Screen Reader Users will standardize around consumer level support duration (18 months).

Special note: unless the situation changes, Version 1903 (May 2019 Update) will go out of support this year. A calendar event will be sent to this forum shortly to remind you of this fact.

Cheers,

Joseph
