I assumed that the offline scan would offer an option to update the defenitions. Such a function should be an integral part of such a tool. If this is not possible, or is not an option,

But if it is, its a significant fact if the scan result doesn't turn up anything. They use the same kb number for the update always, and always have, but several updates come out each day,

But Brian, we don't know how long defenitions wern't updated. If he is running defenitions from a week or month ago, that is significant.

I guess it would have been helpful to mention how to invoke a Windows Security offline scan from the command line, since you're unable to actually get access to Windows Security in Windows itself.
