Hello. I was wondering how would I go about resetting windows 10 since I
can not see the screen? I do have narrator, along with jaws and NVDA
installed on my windows 10 home PC. Has anyone done this? I don't have a
virtual machine just a plain windows 10 home addition and how would I get
the sound during the reset?

. Yes you can do the reset using JAWS or NVDA. Just go to recovery in the Settings app. Once you’ve started the process run Narrator to hear the progress and use it again for the Out of Box Experience to setup WIN 10 again. Take care.

You might try resetting the app.

Reset Windows 10 Mail App

To reset the Mail app so it starts syncing your mail again, go to Settings > System > Apps & features.

apps and features

Now, scroll down until your find Mail and Calendar. Click on it and then Advanced Options.

advanced

There you’ll find a Reset button, go ahead and click it and wait while the reset is complete (the amount of time it takes will vary).

reset

The biggest annoyance of this is you’ll need to sign in again for things to start syncing up again.

restart

Re: Version 2004 and JAWS: JAWS 2019 or later is required #jaws #WinTen2004 #ADVISORY

True.

As most know I am an early adopter, that is I tend to get the systems on the network updated to the latest os as soon as I can when it hits the shelf.

That is not always the best, for a while amd drivers did not work with the newest os update, though this time round amd hasn't released updats for a while a month maybe a little less so maybe they are waiting for the next update.

I have older and newer systems so some had issues but I was able to get them fixed.

I remember 1809.

As usual, I got the update on the shipping date.

For me and another system my dad uses it worked well enough.

For my aunt a sound issue had me reinstalling the previous version till it was fixed which took a couple weeks.

However I never had the file deletion bug.

Hi,

Unless a really serious issue shows up, Version 2004 may (not will) go live next week (I say “may go live” because even some insightful sources are unsure as to when exactly 2004 will show up). Note that “next week” is general availability for early adopters – the general public will get it when their machines are deemed ready.

Hi all,

An important compatibility update for JAWS users seeking to use upcoming Windows 10 Version 2004 (May 2020 Update):

In an email I sent out a few weeks ago, I noted that JAWS 2018 should work with upcoming May 2020 Update. Based on latest tests (on build 19041.264 and on latest Insider Preview build), I’m sorry to announce that JAWS 2018 did not make the cut. Issues include:

  • In Start search box, no results will be announced automatically while searching.
  • Cannot navigate emoji panel and other modern input features.

Later JAWS releases such as 2019 do not exhibit all symptoms noted above. Although you don’t have to use emoji panel and other modern input features, the ability to announce search results automatically (and alongside that, announcing result descriptions) from Start is considered an essential feature for Windows 10 and screen readers. Therefore, I hereby announce that:

In order to use Windows 10 Version 2004 and take advantage of changes introduced as part of that feature update, JAWS 2019 or later is required.

The root cause of this incompatibility is the fact that JAWS 2018 does not come with updated scripts for new Windows Search experience that will ship as part of Version 2004 (the executable file name for Windows Search has changed). This is also the reason why JAWS does not support emoji panel and modern input features in Version 2004 and later.

Joseph

Cheers,

Joseph

I was talking about  the latest nvda update.i would  think that  the  latest Update to NVDA would work with the latest version of windows 10.that Is  all I was saying.

Just as there are updates to Jaws, just to be clear, and I’m not an NVDA user, but I doubt a 3-year old NVDA version would work perfectly well with the latest Windows 10 update, either.

Hi,

As a follow-up: I’m intentionally being vague here. The first reason is that I myself don’t know exactly when it’ll show up. The second reason is to remind everyone of a promise I made a few years ago: I will not answer questions about feature update release dates or any variation of the question, “when will I get such and such update”. For more than half a decade, the only constant thing was unpredictability.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi,

Unless a really serious issue shows up, Version 2004 may (not will) go live next week (I say “may go live” because even some insightful sources are unsure as to when exactly 2004 will show up). Note that “next week” is general availability for early adopters – the general public will get it when their machines are deemed ready.

Cheers,

Joseph
